Masterieces for Guitar contains three of the most important 20th century works for the classical guitar. Composed in 1962 shortly after Segovia's encounter with Frederico Mompou in Santiago de Compostela, La Suite Suite Compostelana, is highly indicative of Mompou's very unique minimalist and highly poetic style.

Manuel Ponce'Variations sur La Folias de España, based on a15th C Iberian dance form akin to the Chaconne, was composed at Segovia's request in 1928. The comprehensive work makes use of romantic and impressionist forms and harmonies to create a vast and technically challenging fresco ending in a more contemporary fugue. Ponce's innate understanding of the guitar and Segovia's subtle editing, the accepted edition dates from 1932, have left us a priceless legacy of their collaboration.

Op. 70 is a classical guitar piece composed in 1963 by English composer Benjamin Britten for guitarist Julian Bream. It is considered by many to be one of the most influential works written in the twentieth century for the classical guitar.
